Bye Bye Bad Camera Karma (I HOPE!)

Ok, so someday I'd like a big fancy camera, but truth be told I don't have time to learn how to use it so a point & shoot works fine for me. Overall we've had pretty good luck with our point & shoot cameras, but lately my current camera was driving me crazy! The memory card kept giving me errors & the batteries couldn't keep a charge for more than 5 minutes - ok maybe that's an exaggeration but the batteries were constantly dying on me! It's only a couple of years old and was a middle of the line point & shoot then - but this technology changes at the speed of light (or so it seems), so I've been wanting to upgrade for several reasons. A while ago Dan's mom sent me some money to do something I wanted with. I've been holding on to it and trying to figure out what that was. I spent it today on this:

It has 2x times the mega pixels as my last camera and the video on it is HD. I'm super excited to start taking better quality pictures & videos, it will still mostly be kiddos & the things they do/we do as a family. I love documenting my kids growing up & the things we do as a family so I decided that this is what I really wanted. I pitched in a little of my own $ for the camera, a memory card & extra battery, but I am more than ok with that - because the camera was almost completely paid for with my gift & I would have felt guilty about buying it on my own when we had a camera that was more or less doing it's job, so this truly is a treat for me!

We will be breaking it in this weekend with Abbie's first dance recital & a fishing derby. Pictures/videos to come - I promise!

I am grateful for a thoughtful, for no particular reason, gift that allowed me to treat myself to a new camera. Thank you Patty for you generosity, it truly means a lot to me.
