Inside the gift shop/museum/ticket booth building there were all sorts of fun photo opps:
Nate & Abbie both tried out the Skeleton & 1 man bobsleds. (The sun in their eyes made for some fun almost genuine looking expressions.)
Nate
Grandpa & Grandma went on a bus tour while everyone else "played". Dan, Nate, Uncle Mike & Aunt Lorraine took on the zip line.
Dan*, Nate*, Abbie*, Uncle Mike & Aunt Lorraine* rode the Alpine Slide (*some had to ride it twice). Sorry no pictures of that - there wasn't really a good place to get a picture. While they were conquering the alpine slide Kassie & I had a good time watching the ski jumpers practice. I asked one of them how long he had been doing it & if it made his mom nervous. He said that he had been jumping since he was 5 & it still made his mom nervous every day.
Dan & Lorraine conquered the super zip line.
And last but not least Dan & Lorraine took on the bobsled.
The video isn't much but after they rounded that first curve they were too far away to really see anything, not to mention they pretty much turned into a red blur. Dan said it was very thrilling, rough rattly ride (he mentioned something about G-forces and shuttle launch) - he had a pretty good bruise on his shoulder then next day from hitting the side of the sled.
Here's their "results" photo from the bottom of the hill:
He said he'd do it again in a minute & would really like to do it in winter on the ice - but at $200 for a little over a minute ride.... he'll have to start saving his change I guess.
After a glorious (ok not so much) lunch at McDonald's we put a dent in our wallets at the outlet mall, I had way too much fun at the Osh Kosh Outlet! Tuesday evening we took in a show at the new planetarium & some last minute pool time, before starting to pack up to hit the road again Wednesday morning.
Whew - is it time to go home yet? Not even close - next stop Idaho.
I am grateful that Dan got to do the bobsled. It's something he's always wanted to do - he can now check it off his "bucket list". However I am even more grateful that he came back in 1 piece!
WOW! Great experience had by all sounds like. And looks fun. I didn't know there was an Olympic Park. hhmmmm.
