Dan sent me an email on October 7th at my work email address. It's been sitting in my inbox ever since waiting for me to do something with it. When he sent it he asked me to post it for him on the blog, 5 months later I am finally doing it.
The Lord blesses us and others a short faith building tale.
Today I woke early and traveled to Oakland to teach a class. I chose to fast as I had a lot on my mind I chose to fast for Luke Schaser who has been sick and is now in the ICU which I didn't know at the time I also fasted for Krista, Nate and our family.
During the fast I prayed to know how to help Luke also that we could find a good van to replace my car.
Fasting seemed harder than normal everything looked and smelled so good I was reminded of how blessed we are to taste and smell so many good things in life the Lord has seen fit to bless us with. When I got home I broke my fast not thinking much about it.
Around 9pm Luke's brother Matt called to ask me to assist in a priesthood blessing for Luke, which I was able to give. I just wanted to mention that I am very grateful I listened to the promptings of the spirit, which I did not recognize at the time I started my fast.
Looking backwards it is obvious the Lord worked through me to help Luke, I was able to fast and get in the proper frame of mind to use my priesthood to help someone in need. It is rather humbling to be an instrument (no matter how crude) in the hands of God and His Son and I am grateful I was able to be worthy to help. I got the impression Luke will pull through via the faith and strength of his family, I pray he does.
Dan
Krista here again - Dan was Luke's home teacher. Dan was asked to give him another blessing the evening that he passed. Luke passed away on October 12. It was all very overwhelming for Dan. Luke's family received great comfort from both blessings Dan gave to Luke and told Dan so on multiple occasions. Dan was Dan about all of it, taking no credit to himself.
I am grateful that Dan is the man that he is. That no matter the circumstances you can trust that he will always do the right thing.
